Whether you arrive by land, sea or sky, the Pilgrim Monument is the first thing you see when you approach Provincetown. Standing at 252 feet, the Monument commemorates the history of the Mayflower Pilgrims and beyond. It’s the tallest all-granite structure in the United States.
The Provincetown Museum is a charming mix of the old and the new. The permanent exhibits retain the charm of an old-fashioned history museum. Exhibits highlight the arrival of the Mayflower Pilgrims, the town’s rich maritime history, the early days of modern American theater in Provincetown, and the building of the monument.

Heritage Museums & Gardens is located on 100 acres of magnificent grounds and trails on the banks of Shawme Pond in Historic Sandwich. The gardens feature internationally important collections of rhododendrons, including those created by Charles Dexter, who did his ground-breaking plant hybridizing work on the grounds. Additional horticultural areas of interest include a comprehensive collection of hydrangeas, a collection of over 1,000 varieties of daylilies, hostas, herb, heather gardens, and more than a thousand varieties of trees, shrubs and flowers along beautiful and easily walked paths.
Hidden Hollow, a family-friendly outdoor discovery area, is a place for exploration of the outdoors and our place in it. Furthermore, Heritage offers three gallery buildings housing permanent exhibits of world-class automobiles, a working vintage carousel, American folk art, and featured special exhibitions.
