Toronto is filled with Indigenous culture and experiences. Enjoy some First Nation food with a visit to Tea-N-Bannock where you will find a mixture of traditional dishes and some with a modern twist including Bison Burgers, Elk Stew, Navajo Indian Tacos and more.
Visit the Art Gallery of Toronto home to a collection of North America First Nation artwork here you can learn about First Nations culture and history through traditional artwork.
For an immersive Indigenous experience visit the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto here you an join a guided tour of the centre here you will learn more about First Nations culture through the extensive art gallery, learn about the language spoken and watch traditional events. The tour is free however donations are recommended to help preserve the artefact’s and visitor centre.

Day 4 - Toronto to Algonquin Park
Drive north out of the city towards the Algonquin region and the town of Thorne. Pick up maps from the visitor centre and a rental canoe from the Algonquin Canoe Company, owned and operated by the Algonquin First Nation.
Canoes are a significant part of First Nation's heritage while being a reliable source of transport for many years it also a symbol of community and family amongst the Indigenous People and Metis Voyagers. Taking a canoe journey across Algonquins vast river system across Dumoine River, Noire River, Coulonge River, Petawawa River, Algonquin Park and Ottawa River. Allowing you to get an understanding of the importance of Indigenous People's values. Enjoy a self guided tour or take part in a guided tour allowing you to gain insightful knowledge. Canoes can be rented locally.

Today, drive west to Manitoulin Island, located on Lake Huron. This is the world’s largest freshwater island and is home to five First Nations communities.

Today we have included a guided tour of Manitoulin Island. Learn the true history of Odawa Mnis (Manitoulin Island) and Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory — Canada’s only officially recognized Unceded Territory. Includes stops at historic sites including 1836 Treaty historic site, Holy Cross Mission Ruins (residential school site), Smith Bay trading site. This unique learning experience has the power to foster relationships and promote the concept of reconciliation between all nations. An educational awakening like no other, that reveals the truth from the first Residential School on the Great Lakes and Northern Ontario’s oldest catholic church that have occurred throughout Canadian history. This step-on tour has the ability to change your perspective on the current narrative of the history of Indigenous people in Canada.
