Stockbridge Experiences

Stockbridge is a town in the Berkshires, in western Massachusetts. It’s home to the Norman Rockwell Museum, showcasing the 20th-century artist’s work and studio. The Naumkeag estate includes an 1886 mansion and gardens. Chesterwood was the home of Lincoln Memorial sculptor Daniel Chester French, and has a rotating outdoor sculpture exhibition. Native plants are displayed at the Berkshire Botanical Garden.

Below is a small selection of the tours we can organise for you when you have booked your USA holiday with us and are visiting Stockbridge.

The grounds of the National Shrine consists of 375 acres of land nestled in the beautiful Berkshire hills in western Massachusetts. The name of the property is called “Eden Hill” because of its natural beauty. The Shrine is usually open 365 days a year, including all holidays and holy days.

On the grounds of Eden Hill, you can explore the National Shrine chapel itself, The "Shrine Church," which offers daily Mass, Confessions, Adoration, Rosary, benediction, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, the blessing of religious articles, and a blessing with a first-class relic of St. Faustina.

Exploration of other shrines on the grounds of Eden Hill is encouraged such as: the Mother of Mercy Outdoor Shrine, the Shrine of the Holy Innocents, the outdoor life-size Stations of the Cross, the Holy Family Shrine, and the Lourdes Grotto/Immaculate Conception Candle Shrine.

Thousand of pilgrims visit the National Shrine each year either on personal retreat or to join in the celebration of holy, ethnic or specialized days.

Established in 1934 as the “Berkshire Garden Center” and revered as one of the older public display gardens in the Northeast, Berkshire Botanical Garden is a not-for-profit, membership-supported educational organization encompassing 24 acres of land at the intersection of Routes 102 and 183 in Stockbridge, Massachusetts.

A showcase of horticulture and garden design and a “museum of living things,” Berkshire Botanical Garden's 24 acres feature dozens of display areas that are educational, functional, and highly ornamental, with plant collections emphasizing plants that are native to the Northeast or that thrive in Zone 5b. Among the oldest in the region, the gardens have evolved and expanded over the years in breadth and variety, with its newest, "Lucy's Garden" featuring topiary animals and other 'live' sculptures, opened in June, 2019.

A warm welcome awaits you at Norman Rockwell Museum. Be surprised and delighted at the magnificence of Rockwell’s large scale original paintings and discover the highly relatable world of American Illustration – the art that tells our stories. There’s always something new to enjoy with ten galleries of ever-changing special exhibitions, engaging programs, a scenic 36- acre campus, and more. Share memories and make new ones.

Chesterwood is the former summer home and studio of Daniel Chester French (1850-1931), sculptor of the Minute Man and Lincoln Memorial Abraham Lincoln statues and a leading artist of his era. The site, located in idyllic Stockbridge, Massachusetts, includes: French’s home and studio; museum collections of objects owned or created by him; an archive of historic documents and photographs (The Chesterwood Archives are located at the Chapin Library at Williams College); outbuildings; and 122 acres of designed and wooded landscape. The National Trust for Historic Preservation maintains the historic buildings, collections, and landscape as a museum for the public. A contemporary sculpture exhibition has been guest-curated and sited throughout the core of the property for four decades and a year-round artist-in-residence program is in development.

Naumkeag is a public garden and historic home in the heart of the Berkshires, Massachusetts.

This 48-acre architectural masterpiece is, at its heart, a family home. In 1884, Joseph Choate, a prominent New York attorney and U.S. Ambassador to Great Britain, and his wife, Caroline, hired the famous architectural firm of McKim, Mead & White to design a summer retreat. The result was a 44-room shingle-style home, where several generations of the Choate family lived until daughter Mabel Choate bequeathed it to The Trustees in 1958.
