VIA Rail The Skeena Train: Know Before You Go

Boarding

Travelling onboard the Skeena Train it is advised that guests arrive at the train station one hour prior before departure to allow for time to check in and check in any luggage. Your journey from Jasper to Prince Rupert is a daylight train you will disembark the train in Prince George for the evening before boarding again the following day to continue to Prince Rupert.

Baggage

Guests traveling onboard the Skeena Train in economy class are permitted to bring the following baggage:

1 personal item

Item that must fit under the seat in front of you (purse, laptop bag, small backpack, etc.)

Max. size: 43 x 33 x 15 cm (17 x 13 x 6 in)

Max. weight: 11.5 kg (25 lb)

1 carry-on item

One (1) MEDIUM bag

Max. size: 64 x 41 x 30 cm (25 x 16 x 12 in)

Max. weight: 23 kg (50 lb)

You are also permitted to bring 2 large checked bags Max. size: 76 x 48 x 30 cm (30 x 19 x 12 in), Max. weight 23 kg (50 lb). Any bags over the listed weight may be charged this is payable locally.

Meals Onboard

There is no meal service onboard the Skeena Train there is snacks and drinks available onboard to purchase. We recommend purchasing some food you can take onboard prior to departure.
